Consultation has concluded
The independent review of the pesticides and veterinary medicines regulatory system has concluded. The Independent Panel’s final report has been published.
The Australian Government will respond to the recommendations in the Panel’s final report in due course.

To support the release of the final report, industry-specific resources have also been developed. These are available under ‘Report Resources’. The resources cover the following industries:
- chemical companies
- community groups
- consumers
- farmers and grower groups
- professional pesticide applicators
- veterinarians.
Next steps
The Australian Government will consult with relevant agencies and organisations to develop the Government Response to the Panel’s recommendations.
Background
On 5 September 2019, the Minister for Agriculture, appointed an independent Panel of experts in:
- regulation
- agricultural production
- veterinary medicines
- human health
to comprehensively review the regulatory framework for agvet chemicals.
The review examined the pesticides and veterinary medicines regulatory system’s aims, structure and operation. It made recommendations to ensure that it is contemporary, fit for purpose and reduces unnecessary red tape.
Consultation
The Panel undertook 2 rounds of consultation involving meetings and written submissions. The Panel received 100 written submissions on its Issues Paper, and 72 written submissions on its draft report.

- individuals and communities.
