We have finalised our review of the biosecurity risks on importing cooked duck meat from Thailand. The final report is now available.

We concluded that the import of cooked duck meat from Thailand can be allowed, provided that all imports meet specific biosecurity import conditions.

How you had your say

We released a draft report in July 2019 and invited your comments. Based on feedback received, we revised the draft to include a new chapter on infectious bursal disease virus, and a full risk assessment of duck hepatitis A virus.

Inclusion of these changes did not alter the overall outcome, with proposed risk management measures similar to those in the first draft. However, because of the inclusion of a significant amount of new material, we provided a second comment period in October 2020.

Thank you to all those who provided feedback during the two consultation periods. All feedback received was carefully considered in finalising the review.
