Annual Report 2020-21

The first Future Drought Fund Annual Report details the achievements of the Fund in its foundational year. You can also view the Annual Report Online Forum videos and transcripts in the document library.

Going forward, we want to ensure the Fund continues to deliver for farming families and communities. This is why we sought your feedback on this Annual Report.

Funding model

We will fund $100 million each year for programs that help farmers and communities become more prepared for, and resilient to, the impacts of drought.

The Drought Resilience Funding Plan informs the design of the programs. The Future Drought Fund Consultative Committee advises the Minister for Drought on whether proposed programs are consistent with the Funding Plan.

Funded projects will enhance public good by building drought resilience in Australia’s agricultural sector, agricultural landscapes and communities, by supporting:

  • an innovative and profitable farming sector
  • a sustainable natural environment, and
  • adaptable rural, regional and remote communities.
