We released the draft report for oriental melon and rockmelon fruit from Korea on 6 June 2022, for public consultation. The consultation period closed on 5 August 2022.

We considered all submissions when finalising the risk analysis.

Final report

You can read the final risk analysis report which was released on 20 February 2023 as well as our responses to stakeholder comments.

It is recommended that the import of greenhouse-grown fresh oriental melon and rockmelon fruit from Korea be permitted provided it meets our biosecurity import conditions.

Five quarantine pests associated with greenhouse-grown fresh oriental melon and rockmelon fruit are present in Korea and need risk management measures to reduce the risk to an acceptable level. A range of measures are recommended to reduce the risk of these pests arriving in Australia via the fresh oriental melon and rockmelon fruit pathway.
