How you had your say

We sought feedback from the public and industry groups about a prescribed heat treatment as a biosecurity risk management measure for fish and fish products imported for use as pet food and stockfeed.

We invited feedback through written submissions from pet food and stockfeed importers and producers, as well as exporters of pet food and stockfeed ingredients.

We carefully considered the feedback provided and have finalised the risk review. We have made some changes to import policy for these commodities.

What happens next

The final report was published on the department’s website on 31 October 2022, with a notice advising stakeholders of its release.

The department has also notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat about the release of this report. Publication of this report represents the end of the process. The conditions recommended in the report will be the basis of any import permits issued. Applications can be submitted through BICON.
