Public consultation on the topic is closed.
How you had your say
We sought feedback from the public and industry groups about a prescribed heat treatment as a biosecurity risk management measure for fish and fish products imported for use as pet food and stockfeed.
We invited feedback through written submissions from petfood and stockfeed importers and producers, as well as exporters of pet food and stockfeed ingredients.
What happens next
We will now review the feedback provided and determine whether changes need to be made to our proposed treatment methods to ensure all biosecurity risks are managed with the least necessary impost on industry or trade.
The department will carefully consider all submissions before finalising the review and making any necessary changes to existing policy. The number and complexity of submissions received by the deadline, will determine when we will release the final import conditions for these commodities. A further Biosecurity Advice will be issued in due course advising of the final outcomes and implementation dates.
