Public consultation on the draft Commonwealth fisheries resource sharing framework is now closed. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

Your feedback has informed development of the Commonwealth fisheries resource sharing framework, released on 23 December 2020.

The framework sets out the principles and approach we will use to share fisheries resources between fishing sectors. It will be applied to Commonwealth-managed fisheries. It will not impact state-managed and territory-managed fisheries.

How you had your say

The framework was informed by months of intensive stakeholder consultation, including:

  • Stakeholder workshops in September and October 2020. Summaries of key outcomes from these workshops have been published under the ‘Stakeholder workshop summaries’ section
  • Feedback on a draft framework from 25 August to 22 September 2020. Public submissions have been published under the ‘Draft framework – public submissions’ heading
  • Feedback on a discussion paper from 5 March to 21 May 2020. See our feedback summary and all public submissions
  • Outcomes from meetings with the National Fishing Advisory Council (September 2019 and May 2020) and National Recreational Fishing Council (May 2020)
  • Face-to-face meetings with stakeholders
  • Responses to an online survey from 23 September to 21 October 2019.
